Science Fair Foundation BC names new Director of Operations

September 10th, 2012 - The Science Fair Foundation of BC (SFF BC) is very pleased to welcome Dr. Michael Plischke as Director of Operations. The former Dean of Science at Simon Fraser University, Michael brings both academic and administrative experience to the position. A 36-year veteran physics professor and condensed-matter theorist, his many academic community service positions included membership on the Board of Directors of the Foundation from 2004 to 2010.

Michael received his Bachelor of Science from Loyola College, Montreal, a Master of Philosophy from Yale University and a PhD from Yeshiva University. In 2006 he was made a Fellow of the American Physical Society for his outstanding contribution to physics.

In his role as Dean of Science, Michael was a strong proponent of the Faculty of Science outreach activities. He believes it is important to encourage youth to explore science and technology through hands-on activities. He brings this commitment to his current role with the Foundation.
