the 2017 Microsemi Science Fair Fun Run raised over $40,000 for the Dr. Michael Smith Science Fair Endowment! We had nearly 1,200 runners come out to Athletes Village Plaza on May 28 to support Science Fair activity across British Columbia.

Join in the fun with your young runner and take part in the 1K Mini Fun Run. Registration includes a T-shirt plus entry to TELUS World of Science on race day.

All Mini Fun Run participants must have a registered adult run with them.

Timing Chips are not issued for Mini Fun Run participants.
The closest SkyTrain station is Main Street/Science World Station.

There is parking available but can be hard to find so get thre early.

Feel free to bike or walk, the race route is adjacent to the Sea Wall in Athletes Village Plaza.

Prizes are awarded to the largest and the fastest teams in each of the following catergories:

Note: Prizes are awarded based on the 5 fastest runner from each team.

You can avoid the crowds on Sunday morning by picking up their race packages on Saturday, May 27th between  Noon to 5:00pm at the Cambie Running Room: 2317 Cambie Street, Vancouver, BC V5Z 2T9
The 5K Microsemi Science Fair Fun Run will begin and end on Athletes Way between Salt & Manitoba. The race will head West to Columbia, left to Walter Hardwick, left again heading East to Ontario, right to 1st Ave. The race will then head West all the way along 1st Ave to under the Cambie Bridge turning right on Spyglass to the seawall, left onto seawall past Mahony & Sons and continue on to Charleson Park, turning left onto the pathway through the park and coming out on Sawyers Lane, left on Moberly, right on Commodore, and back along 1st Ave then left again on Ontario and left again on Athletes Way to the finish line on Salt.

You are welcome to walk or run with your stroller. No additional entry required for stroller contents!
Every registrant of the 1K and 5K runs will receive a customized technical t-shirt.

Teams of 5 or more who register before April 30 can further customize their t-shirts with their team/company/school logo on the left sleeve.

Teams who register before May 1 can have their t-shirts customized! To do so please, please e-mail a .eps or .ai logo file to info@sciencefairs.ca prior to May 1.

We will deliver your race packages including t-shirt, bibs and timing chips to your team captain the week before the run.
Teams are a minimum of 5 people. The Team Captain must register first and provide the team name and the system will generate a password. Team Members can then sign up using the team name and team password. Each Team Member needs to register individually. 
  • The team captain must first register and create the team. The system will automatically generate a team password and provide it in the confirmation e-mail. 
  • The captain can then send the team name, password and registration link to members to join
  • Each person must register and pay separately (fees are listed per person)
  • There is no way to sign up the entire team in one registration as everyone needs to accept the waiver of liability and provide contact information should we need to reach you
  • Captains can view the number and list of team members from their personal Athlete’s Dashboard

Participants in the 5K category will have the opportunity to track their start and finish times with a bib tag timing device.  A bib tag is a small lightweight disposable device that is attached to the back of your race number.  Without the bib tag on the back of your race number, you will not receive a time.  NO BIB TAG = NO TIME. Your time will start the moment you cross the mats at the start and then stop the moment you cross the timing mats at the finish line.  Wear your race number visibly on your chest (with the bib tag secure on the back).  Do not bend, fold or remove it.  Use a pin for each corner of the race number, do not pierce the bib tag.  Do not remove the foam spacer, this increases the detection rate of your tag.  These bib tags do not have to be collected after the race, you can keep the race number with the bib tag as a souvenir.
