Now in its 18th year, the Microsemi Science Fair Fun Run is the largest timed 5K race in BC and is one of the technology industry's largest events, supporting young scientists through science fairs across the province. It is a family-oriented event with balloons, free giveaways from run sponsors, free admission for registrants to TELUS World of Science on race day and prizes for the fastest runners and largest teams. Participate in the day's activities while learning how much fun science is!

Your participation in the annual Microsemi Science Fair Fun Run ensures the success of future Science Fairs in BC and allows our youth to gain the skills they need to succeed in a fast-paced, knowledge-based world.

The Science Fair Foundation of British Columbia is a not-for-profit charitable society committed to the promotion and development of Science Fair Programs in the province. Science Fairs give students from grades four to twelve a unique opportunity to explore their interest in science and technology. Each year, over 40,000 students from 800 schools in British Columbia participate in Science Fairs, more than 1,500 educators and professionals in the fields of science and technology volunteer as judges and mentors for BC students.

The Dr. Michael Smith Science Fair Endowment

All proceeds from the event will go to The Dr. Michael Smith Science Fair Endowment to support the promotion and development of Science Fair Programs throughout the province.

We will deliver your race packages including t-shirt, bibs and timing chips to your team captain the week before the run.
Participants in the 5K category will have the opportunity to track their start and finish times with a bib tag timing device.  A bib tag is a small lightweight disposable device that is attached to the back of your race number.  Without the bib tag on the back of your race number, you will not receive a time.  NO BIB TAG = NO TIME. Your time will start the moment you cross the mats at the start and then stop the moment you cross the timing mats at the finish line.  Wear your race number visibly on your chest (with the bib tag secure on the back).  Do not bend, fold or remove it.  Use a pin for each corner of the race number, do not pierce the bib tag.  Do not remove the foam spacer, this increases the detection rate of your tag.  These bib tags do not have to be collected after the race, you can keep the race number with the bib tag as a souvenir.
