Youth Science Month Bring Ideas Alive

It‟s Youth Science Month in Canada, and in B.C., approximately 60,000 students are expected to take part by bringing some amazing ideas to life. Youth Science Month is a national event that sees over 500,000 students competing in project-based science across Canada through a series of regional fairs. Winners will compete at the 50th annual Canada-Wide Science Fair in Toronto, May 14-21, 2011.

Cross province quiz winners announced

A recent cross-province science quiz challenge shows that BC students and their educators are engaged and excited about doing science and technology and BC, more than any other province, is giving them the tools to do so.

The Year of Science Launches the Science Challenge Program with A SINGLE DAY PROVINCE WIDE SCHOOL SCIENCE QUIZ FOR ALL GRADES

On Wednesday, January 12th the Science Fair Foundation BC, in conjunction with the BC government initiative, Year of Science, will host a one day science quiz for all grades, Kindergarten through 12, across the province. Participation in the quiz can win prizes for the school and, with enough participation, they may even set a world record for the most participants doing science on one day!

Two British Columbia teens and an educator will board a plane for Taipei, Taiwan to represent British Columbia and Canada at the annual Taiwan International Science Fair to be held February 13 to 20, 2011. BC Students Awarded 22 Medals and $165,975 at Canada-Wide Science Fair

Seventy-one students from across British Columbia and the Yukon won a total of 46 awards at this year’s Canada-Wide Science Fair held in Ottawa, Ontario, from May 10 to 18, 2008. Participating in a variety of categories from automotive to biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences to computing and information technology, the students brought back five gold, five silver, 12 bronze, 24 honourable mentions, 17 special awards, and $165,975 in scholarships, awards and total prize money.(May 20, 2008)

Eighth Annual PMC-Sierra Science Fair Fun Run Raises More Than $50,000 For B.C. Science Fair Students

The eighth annual PMC-Sierra Science Fair Fun Run, which took place on Sunday, May 27 raised $50,000 and attracted over 1,300 runners. To date, the run has raised over $310,000 for The Dr. Michael Smith Science Fair Endowment in support of Science Fair programs across B.C. (June 1, 2007)
