Julia Lane Scholarship

Science Fair Foundation BC is honoured to facilitate the $3000 Julia Lane Scholarship Self-Nomination process.

Eligibility & Criteria

Applicants for the scholarship may nominate themselves instead of being selected by regional science fair committees.

Required Materials for Submission

  • Completed nomination form
  • Current official transcript
  • Reference Letter* from a teacher or relevant mentor is optional but strongly encouraged
  • Résumé / CV
  • Photo of the student

*Reference letter parameters are expanded to include relevant mentors outside of traditional educators. We hope that this will encourage homeschoolers, newcomers, and other marginalized students to apply. For many, this may be completed by an Elder, church or community leader, coach, librarian, and more. The reference letter is also no longer required but strongly encouraged to paint a more complete picture of the applicant and their potential. If you are unsure about the viability of your reference letter, or if you have any other questions or concerns about your application, we would love to hear from you at info@sciencefairs.ca with the subject line “2026 Julia Lane Scholarship Inquiry”.
