Science Fair Foundation BC challenges the corporate STEM community to Sweat for Science

February | 2023
Vancouver, British Columbia — The Science Fair Foundation BC is pleased to announce registration is now open for 2023 Sweatin’ for Science, presented by AbCellera. This fitness fundraiser, the Foundation’s largest annual science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fundraising and awareness campaign, is returning for the third straight year this May.

This year’s theme is “Sci-Fi to Reality” and will explore advancements in technology and innovation. The event encourages company teams to commit to a month of fun challenges that get you active, all with the aim of raising money to increase access to science, technology and innovation education programs for youth.

Funds raised will help remove barriers in access to science fairs and STEM education as well as ensure the success and sustainability of science fairs across BC and Yukon. Financial aid for students participating in science fairs means they can access the tools necessary to develop their ideas and attend events outside their home communities.

For the second year in a row, Sweatin’ for Science will be presented by AbCellera, a Vancouver-based company that finds antibodies that can be developed into medicines to prevent and treat disease.

“Being active, building relationships and continuously learning are essential elements of living a healthy life,” said Véronique Lecault, Ph.D., Co-founder and COO of AbCellera. “AbCellera is excited to team up with Sweatin’ for Science again this year to help communities in BC and the Yukon connect with their peers, get moving, and feed their curiosity through science fairs.”
